Do I need a subscription?
No. EditWithChat is a one-time purchase. The editor’s decisions come from Claude, so you need your own Claude Code login or Anthropic API key — that’s billed by Anthropic and is separate from EditWithChat.
What can I use as a reference?
A link to a public reel, a video file, or a few images of the look you want (colours, a layout, a brand board). Or skip it and pick one of the five looks. Private videos and ones that need a login can’t be downloaded.
Is copying someone’s style okay?
A reference captures how a video is edited — caption look, pacing, zooms, layout. EditWithChat never reuses the reference’s footage, words, music or branding; your own footage is always the content.
How long does setup take?
About 10 minutes once, in the background — you can look around meanwhile. After that it works offline.
How long does an edit take?
Usually a few minutes for a short video, depending on length and your Mac. You can leave and come back; it tells you when it’s done.
Which Macs are supported?
Apple Silicon (M1 or newer) running macOS 13 or later.
Are my videos uploaded anywhere?
No. Processing happens on your Mac. Only the transcript and a few frames the editor chooses to look at go to Claude, through your own account. See the privacy page.
What if it’s not for me?
Email support within 14-day of purchase for a full refund.
